The Rotary Club of Jersey City is a "service" club and the main purpose
of our existence is service. Here are some of the service projects which

The Gift of Knowledge
The Jersey City Rotary Club has joined in a national effort to improve
literacy by providing individual dictionaries to every third grade student in
the Jersey City Public Schools. Find out more about this project

Gift of Life - Shanghai
The Jersey City Rotary Club has joined with our
Centennial Twin Club - The Rotary Club of Shanghai, PRC (Provisional) to
provide life saving open heart surgery for children in China who are in need. Find out more about this project

of Hope Foundation

A special project by the Jersey City Rotary Foundation
and the Rotary Club of Jersey City in cooperation with the District 7490 Walter
Head Foundation to assist the families of food service workers killed in the
horrible attacks on the World Trade Center, Find out more about this

Adhar Mook Vidyalaya School
Pune, Maharashtra
India
A joint project with the Rotary Club of Pune Shaniwarwada and Rotary District
3130 to provide four (4) group hearing aid systems to this school for hearing
impaired children. This project also recieved matching funds from the

School Supplies
to Children in Need
A new project originated by the Rotary Club of Jersey City in 2001-2002 to send surplus
pens and pencils to children who need them through Rotary Clubs in other parts

Read Me Again, Please!
In response to a request from a local Scout, the Club has agreed to
participate in and assist with this project developed by the Scout as part of
the his requirements for the Eagle Scout Award of the Boy Scouts of America.
The project collects "lightly" used children's books from the community and
recycles them into the hands of disadvantaged children. The project is
being done in cooperation with the Housing Authority of the City of Union City.

Culinary Arts Institute
Scholarships
Each year since 1997, the Rotary Club of Jersey City has provided a
scholarship to a deserving student of the Culinary Institute of the Hudson
County Community College. These scholarships have enabled mature students
to get important training to make career changes that advance their
opportunities to provide for their families. Find out more about this

Leadership Awards
Conference
Each year the Rotary Club of Jersey City sponsors participation by a number
of outstanding student leaders from Jersey City in the Rotary District 7490 RYLA
Conference. These students, who are selected by the faculty and
administration of their schools are then invited to visit a club meeting and
share their experiences with the club members. You can learn more about

Davy
Jones
Rotary Youth Citizenship
Award
For the past 40+ years the club has awarded its coveted “Davy Jones Rotary
Youth Citizenship Award” to two outstanding 8th grade students in each of
Jersey City ’s 28 public grammar schools. The award was created in
memory of 1928-1929 Past President Dave Jones who was dedicated to serving the

Group Study Exchange
The Rotary Club of Jersey City in cooperation
with the other clubs of Rotary District 7490 periodically participate in this
program by hosting international visitors who are part of the program.
