The Jersey City Rotary Foundation (Rotary Foundation of Jersey City, Inc.) was established in 1996 to further and to perpetuate the charitable activities of the Rotary Club of Jersey City.  It supports a variety of charitable causes and activities locally, nationally, and internationally through cooperation with other affiliates of Rotary International and with local community groups in Hudson County, New Jersey.  The foundation functions as a community foundation for the Hudson County area providing opportunities for individuals and groups to contribute to the improvement of life in the community.  It is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and as such, contributions to the foundation may be tax deductible to the donor.

Programs

In addition to the General Fund which is directed by the trustees toward a variety of charitable and educational activities, The Foundation has established a number of special purpose funds which donors may use to direct their contributions to specific purposes or geographic areas:

Community Fund -

Contributions specifically designated to the Community Fund may only be used to meet identified needs in the Hudson County, New Jersey community.

International Fund -

Contributions specifically designated to the International Fund may only be used to support programs either outside the United States of America or to support International Exchange Programs to further International Brotherhood and World Peace.

Youth Fund -

Contributions specifically designated to the Youth Fund may only be used to support programs which directly benefit young people under the age of 21.

Special Funds -

The trustees may accept specially designated funds from individuals or a group of donors as long as the purpose of such funds are compatible with the purposes of the Foundation and do not conflict with any laws, rules, or regulations which govern the operation of the Foundation.  The trustees, in considering the establishment of such a fund, will take into account the restrictions indicated above, as well as certain minimum and maximum limits which might make the management of the fund undesirable to the Foundation.  At the present time, only one such Special Fund has been established  but more can be added by the trustees upon the request of a donor.

The Miller Campership Fund - The Miller Campership Fund has been established based on grants from the Liberty Savings Federal Credit Union in honor of its founders William A. and Catherine L. Miller.  Additional contributions to this fund are made periodically both by the Credit Union and by interested individuals.  The fund is set up as a permanent endowment fund with the earnings generated by the fund being distributed periodically.  The purpose of the fund is limited to providing financial assistance to Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts from Hudson County, New Jersey in order that they might participate in Scouting sponsored summer camp, national, and international opportunities.
