Rotary Information

There is so much to learn about Rotary that many Rotarians are surprised to discover new information on a regular basis. Here we will provide you with a Rotary Primer and with some additional links that will help you learn more about what Rotary is and what it does.

The Object of Rotary

The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy experience and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

bullet The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
bullet High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by each Rotarian of his or her occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
bullet The application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian to his or her personal, business and community life;
bullet The advancement of international understanding, good will, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional men and women united in the ideal of service.

The Four Avenues of Service

Rotary is above all else a service club.  Each club is engaged in service to the community and to the world.  The ways we serve are many and varied, but all fall under one of the Four Avenues of Service.

The Four Way Test

Rotarians aspire to a code of ethics in their daily lives.  This creed is embodied in a very concise statement called the Four Way Test.
